Park Narodowy Zion leży w Utah w pobliżu Springdale. Jago najważniejszą częścią jest Kanion Zion o długości 24 km i głębokości dochodzącej do 800 m. Ściany kanionu wyrzeźbionego przez rzeki North Fork i Virgin mają czerwonawo-brązową barwę piaskowca formacji Navajo. Najwyższym szczytem parku jest Horse Ranch Mountain o wysokości 2660 m. Leżąc na styku geograficznych makroregionów Płaskowyżu Kolorado, Wielkiej Kotliny i pustyni Mojave, unikalna geografia parku sprawia, że znajduje się tu być może najbardziej zróżnicowana grupa ekosystemów, a przez to zdumiewająca różnorodność roślin i zwierząt. Liczne gatunki roślin, a także 289 gatunków ptaków, 75 ssaków (w tym 19 gatunków nietoperzy) i 32 gatunki gadów zamieszkują cztery strefy życia parku: pustynię, łęgi, lasy liściaste i iglaste. Krajobraz Parku Narodowego Zion obejmuje góry, kaniony, mesy, monolity, rzeki, kaniony szczelinowe i naturalne łuki.[:en]

Zion National Park lies in Utah near Springdale. A prominent feature of park is Zion Canyon, which is 24 km long and up to 800 m deep. The canyon walls are reddish and tan-colored Navajo Sandstone eroded by the North Fork of the Virgin River. The highest peak of the park is Horse Ranch Mountain at 2,660 m. Located at the junction of the Colorado Plateau, Great Basin, and Mojave Desert regions, the park’s unique geography means that it might just have the most diverse range of life zones that allows astounding plant and animal diversity. Numerous plant species as well as 289 species of birds, 75 mammals (including 19 species of bats), and 32 reptiles inhabit the park’s four life zones: desert, riparian, woodland, and coniferous forest.
