Total Solar Eclipse USA 2024

I invite you to watch the Total Solar Eclipse, which will be visible on April 8, 2024 in the southeastern United States. The plan is to visit Florida – both nature (Everglades N.P.), culture (Key West and Miami) and space (Cape Canaveral), the US Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola and the battleship Alabama in Mobile. We will stop to feel the extraordinary atmosphere of New Orleans, and then we will visit Houston and the NASA management board and perhaps also SpaceX’s Starbase in Boca Chica.

Cost:

  • USD 5,000/person  – cost does NOT include the cost of the flight Warsaw -> Miami and Dallas -> Warsaw (the departure and return port can be chosen by traveller)

Group and accommodation:

  • From 2 to 4 participants, accommodation in hotels and motels, in 4-person rooms.

The costs of the expedition cover the costs of all accommodation along the route, entry costs to national parks and the mentioned attractions during the joint expedition. Also the cost of renting and insuring a car adapted to the size of the group and fuel.

The cost does not include food, souvenirs and tips, or travel insurance.

date – March 30 – April 14, 2024

1 day

Departure from Warsaw and direct flight to Miami, picking up the car – rest or an evening on the Miami beach. Overnight stay at Wynwood Beds beach hostel.

Day 2

Transfer from Miami toKey West – amazing bridges, islands along the way, visiting the town whereHemingwaylived. Transfer to Everglades National Park, visiting the jungle and mangrove forests with alligators. Transfer to Naples. Overnight at the Spinnaker Inn in Naples. The total journey for that day was approximately 375 miles

3rd day

Transfer to Cape Canaveral and visit the NASA Kennedy Space Center. Then drive to Chiefland and overnight at the Quality Inn. The total journey for that day was approximately 466 miles

Day 4

Meeting with dugongs (manatees) in Manatee Springs state park, then drive toPensacola Beach and rest. Overnight at Pensacola Beach Motel 6. Total travel for the day was approximately 333 miles

Day 5

We will start the day with a visit to the US Naval Air Museum in Pensacola, which is also the base of the Blue Angels formation. Then we will go to Mobile, Alabama, where we will visit the battleship USS Alabama. In the evening we will reach New Orleans, overnight at the Country Inn &  Suites by Radisson. The total ride for the day was approximately 222 miles

6th day

Visiting New Orleans, the French Quarter, jazz bars, a voodoo museum and a visit to the Preservation Hall. Overnight at Country Inn &  Suites by Radisson.

7th day

Drive through the capital of Louisiana – Baton Rouge and the Atchafalaya swamps, trip to meet alligators. Then drive to Houston, overnight at Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham. The total ride for the day was approximately 350 miles

8th day

Tour of Space Center Houston with a visit to the Johnson NASA Space Center. In the afternoon, drive to Corpus Christi – overnight stay at Motel 6. Total travel for the day is approximately 208 miles

day 9

Transfer to Boca Chica and visit to the SpaceX Space Port. Then drive to Laredo, overnight at Hwy 59 Motel Laredo. Total travel for the day was approximately 480 miles

10th day

Eclipse day!

In the morning, drive to Quemado on the border with Mexico –  The partial eclipse will begin at 12:10:27 local time, and the total phase at 13:27:41. The maximum eclipse will occur at 1:29:55 p.m. The total eclipse will end at 13:32:09 and the partial one – at 14:51:33. The total eclipse will last almost 4 and a half minutes.

Then drive to Alpine and overnight at Hotel Parker at Quarter Circle 7. Total driving for the day is approximately 385 miles

11th day

Transfer to the Big Bend National Park – views of theRio Grande,Emory Peakvolcano, transfer to Presidio, overnight stay at Riata Inn. The total ride for the day was approximately 250 miles

12th day

Transfer to McDonald Observatory, visit (at 2 p.m.) to the observatory where the107″ Harlan J. Smith telescope is located. Then drive to the top ofMt. Fowlkes to the telescope Hobby-EberlyTelescope (HET).  Transfer to Carlsbad, overnight at Motel 6 Carslbad. Total travel for the day is approximately 275 miles

13th day

Transfer and visit to the Guadalupe Mountains National Park. Back to Carlsbad. Overnight at Motel 6 Carslbad. Total rides for the day were approximately 105 miles

14th day

Visiting the extraordinary Carlsbad Cavern in the national park of the same name. Transfer to Dallas/Fort Worth. Overnight at Arya Suites and Inn. Total travel for the day was approximately 460 miles

15th day

Flight from Fort Worth/Dallas to Miami, and then from Miami to Warsaw
